Board Member

Mr. Saybe is President and General Manager of Saybe and Associates, for more than 40 years one of the leading civil engineering firms in Honduras responsible for the design and supervision of many of the most important architecture and engineering projects in the country.  Graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Honduras, Saybe began his career at Direccion General de Carreteras, in Honduras; and he worked for a year at US consulting firm Upham, Porter & Urquhart on projects in New York and Chicago.  Back in Honduras, Saybe worked for 15 years for the Texas company, Brown and Root, until founding his own firm in 1970.

For 15 years Saybe taught "Transportation" and "Highway Design" at the National University of Honduras; he has served several terms on the Board of Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de Honduras; and he was a counselor for the Municipality of San Pedro Sula for three administrations.  He was Honorary Consul for the Uruguay Republic for 22 years, until he retired; and he is an active member of several non-profit foundations.

Saybe is also a theater man.  He is President of Fundación Cultural de San Pedro Sula, a non-profit foundation that manages the theater which bears his name.  He has produced all 154 plays of the Círculo Teatral Sampedrano.  He has directed 58 of them, done the set design for 88, and translated 25 from English to Spanish.

Saybe was born in La Ceiba, Honduras.  Married since 1966, he and his wife have two daughters, a son, and five grandchildren.
